Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Vancouver Jade' - Kinnikinnick or Bearberry |
Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Vancouver Jade' - Kinnikinnick or Bearberry - Vancouver Jade is a vigorous
evergreen ground cover that uniformly spreads more quickly than the typical wild form and bears fragrant
clusters of pick flowers on semi-upright branches. It does best in well-drained or sandy soils and
prefers a sunny location, but is tolerant of light shade. This plant is a light water user and will
tolerate some drought conditions once it has been established. The vigorous and rapid growth make it an
excellent ground cover for banks, berms and other areas that is now covered with grass that requires
constant mowing. Pruning is only required to control height and spread if necessary. The maximum height
is about 40 cm (20 inches).
